Day 70: That’s Like, 10 Weeks!

Today we hit the big “70” mark, as we have officially been waiting 70 days for the bank’s update on the house.  Instead of bemoaning the fact that I don’t do well with uncertainty, or the fact that I could do in 2 days what the bank does in 10 weeks, or the fact that this is how some banks run their business, I’ll stick to my random thoughts.  Here are random things that I’ve thought about/experienced/learned/contemplated during this 10 week process.

A Tiny Update

As many of you have probably gathered, we’re in a “dark” period right now of waiting and not hearing much new information.  It got to a point where my agent would call, we’d talk for a spell, but after I hung up the phone I realized she was calling out of convenience to me, not because she had any “real news.”

Day 15: Still No Word

Wow…not writing any updates for a while felt like I was on a deserted island, with barely any communication with the outside world.

As a matter of fact, since we haven’t heard any news yet from our agent, it does feel like we’re on a deserted island.  Where’s Wilson when I need him?

House #8 – Lake Orion

So much for resting during the holidays, eh?  Ashley and I both thought that the availability of houses was going to really hit a low point because of both the winter months and the holiday.  That was, until we found out that we were pre-approved for a much higher amount under a Homepath Renovation mortgage.  Right now, I’m in the process of getting an updated FHA pre-approval since ours expired on the 22nd.  After we informed our agent of the increase, we asked for the MLS listings to reflect a higher price.  Wow.  All I know is that there were a lot more houses that were really interesting as soon as we made that jump.  Which gets us to House #8.
